TW: This article discusses traumatic childhood experiences

Whether we like it or not, our childhood experiences directly impact the person we become as an adult.

For those who have suffered through traumatic upbringings, the chaos endured in childhood has physical, psychological, and emotional effects.

In the 1990s, a study found a relationship between the number of adverse experiences as a child with negative outcomes in adulthood.

Since then, there has been a shift in focus, with scientists continuing to focus on how childhood has the potential to make or break you as an adult. The research seeks to empower adults who have experienced tumultuous upbringings, promoting healing and creating functional members of society.

Today, I’ll briefly discuss the Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES Test, explaining what it is, how you can take it, and what your score means.

Trauma during childhood

There are a number of traumatic things that can happen during childhood. And since everyone’s experience is unique, ACEs affect everyone differently.
