My mother was raised Catholic. She and her siblings went to Catholic private schools, had confirmations, baptisms, and all of those fun Catholic things.
My mom is neither religious nor spiritual. As such, she chose not to have my brother and me baptized.

When I told others I was not baptized, people audibly gasped.

As a child, I went to church on Sundays with my grandmother. My favorite part of going to church was after church because we always went to the bakery. I thought the rituals of the Catholic church were fascinating. We kneeled, stood, read, and sang.

In the middle of mass, churchgoers exited their pews and lined up to receive bread and wine given by the priest.

Every Sunday, I had to stay in my pew while the others received food. I was not allowed to eat the bread, or drink the wine, because I was not baptized. I guess the bakery made up for that.

Not only could I not eat the bread or drink the wine, but I also was not allowed into heaven!
